The Story So Far…
70 Pinstone Street is a fantastic collaboration from Handpicked Books and La Biblioteka bringing together independent books and magazines in the city centre’s only dedicated independent book shop and magazine store.
No. 70 is designed for a good long browse with comfy window seats, a snug upper floor and proper brewed coffee.
Alex and Evelyn have put together a truly unique and welcoming experience in an ex-frozen yogurt shop.
What might I find there?
No.70 sells items that you would struggle to find on the high street including magazine subscriptions for architecture, design, cycling and hiking. In the books section you will discover beautiful copies of Jane Austen’s novels, travel diaries and quirky Yorkshire guides.
The Empty Unit
No.70 sits in a high profile, major footfall area opposite the Peace Gardens and Town Hall. The unit had been empty for over 18 months and previously housed a frozen yogurt shop. The unit sits in the footprint of the Sheffield New Retail Quarter development zone. Alex and Evelyn received Renew funding which they have used to redevelop the unit, redecorate and install new wiring, lighting and purchase key equipment such as a till and payment system. The exposed nature of the refurbishment means that you can also see the shops original lighting fixtures and features on the ceiling.
No. 70 is currently open Tuesday- Thursday 11-6, Fri-Sat 11-7
